Ice Cubes and Wee Blossoms

Hi! I thought I might have time to sneak a little post in. Griffin woke up at 6:30 this morning, but conked back out at 8:30, when we walked Jai to work. I could have used a little more sleep, and I'm sure Jai would tell you the same!
We've been doing pretty well this week, although those little teeth are continuing to shift around. My main strategy is to keep him distracted.
We had a very busy weekend, full of friends and barbecues. We couldn't have asked for better weather for the May long weekend. Then Tuesday was 29 degrees! It's nice, but I think everyone is a little worried about what it means for the upcoming Summer. Griffin and I spent a lot of time on the deck, playing with ice cubes.

And I think this is my new favourite picture:

Yesterday we had our Waldorf playgroup, Wee Blossoms, in Annapolis Royal.

It's so nice to get out and spend time with all those other Moms and kids (plus one Dad!)

Our little guy must be going through a growth spurt, because he was stealing food from everyone, and their Mother.

Plus, it was yet another gorgeous day.

So yeah, the house is a bit of a mess, and the gardening is not done (hah! is it ever?) The piece I am working on has been languishing a little, and I still haven't figured out my new web-site. But... we have one (mostly) happy little boy, and one (mostly) happy Mommy, who is getting a great tan.

Documenting our Days

Hello! What a week it's been. One of these days, I am going to be able to sit down and write something wise or witty, but I'm afraid it won't be today. And, really, it's so easy to say "one of these days..." Occasionally (I admit it) I write Blog posts in my head, while I'm brushing my teeth at night, or spooning food into Griffin's mouth, and they're always full of interesting observations. But when I actually sit, I seem to end up always trying to play catch up. Anyway, a lot has happened this week, and some of it was definitely worth documenting.

Speaking of playing catch-up, I did actually take a couple of pictures of Jai's parents and Griffin together while they were here visiting a couple of weeks ago.

Griffin sure has some great Grandparents!

I did a couple of photo shoots this week, and it's been super fun to get back into. I was saying to Jai that my graduating class was probably one of the last years to get a degree in photography without every touching a digital camera. They really have changed everything. I loved being in the darkroom, but virtually stopped taking pictures after I graduated because I didn't have access to a darkroom anymore, and it was hurting my heart to get photos developed at Walmart. Now, it's not the same as developing in a darkroom, but it IS pretty amazing what you can do with the photo programs that are out there. What fun!

Anyway, I got some great shots of my friend Sarah and her children.

And I took some photos for Jai's band Dayliner, who will be playing the Valley's Got Talent show at the Apple Blossom Festival next week. I'm pretty happy with how they all turned out.

In between other things, I've been trying to get all the weeds out of the garden, but as you can see from this photo, there's still a lot of work to be done.

I'm hoping to get all the plants into the ground this weekend. The extra day will hopefully help! (I'm going to need it!)
And the biggest news of the week is on the Griffin front, of course. He stood all by himself for the first time yesterday! Go, Griffin!

On the Mend, plus a Sneak Peek

Hello! Hope you all are doing well. We're on the mend around here, after suffering through a perfectly awful trifecta of horrible cold, teething pains, and tummy troubles. Poor little Griffin made it through the weekend by putting his head down on the floor and crying. A lot. It might just be the saddest sight in the World. Anyway, it all seems to be settling down, and while he's not quite back to his usual cheery self, he is definitely smiling and playing a lot more. Even if he does sound like a constantly snoring pug (the good part is that he can't sneak around at all right now!)
I know I promised some after shots, but for some reason they didn't download off the camera. But I do have an after shot of the table that I salvaged in pick-up week. Remove ugly plywood, add some gorgeous slabs, and Voila! It's a perfect phone table for our brand new dining room.

We had many volunteers (maybe not eager, but certainly willing) over the Mother's Day weekend in the form of two sets of parents (that's eight extra hands - thanks guys!) Furniture, books, craft supplies, rugs, and more, were moving all over the place. And in the end, we now have two extra usable rooms, instead of storage spaces. Add in the deck, and it feels like a whole new house.

And amongst all the craziness, I snuck in some time to get into the shop and pull together a new piece...

Which I totally love! Thanks again to Deborah and all the faithful Kickcan and Conkers readers for providing me with so much encouragement! Hopefully I will get some pieces into our Etsy shop soon. But for now, I hope you enjoy the Sneak Peek :)

May your day be filled with smiles and snuggles and snacks (three of my favourite things.)

Kickcan and Conkers!

Hello! I just had to take a second, while Griffin is in his last moments of napping by the open door, to exclaim over my extraordinary delight in being featured on the beautiful blog Kickcan and Conkers. I've been a fan of Deborah's blog for a while now, so to find myself among all the other artists she features was quite a treat. It makes me want to get into the shop and get busy!
This week has been stuffed full of social engagements, while poor little Griffin has a nasty cold and more teeth coming in - not fun, but next week I plan on sneaking some time in.
Anyway, gotta run now, but check back soon for some pictures of the changes we just made in the house (yes, finally some "after" shots - it's been a while!) Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday Griffin!!!

Happy Birthday, Griffin! You just turned One! We had an excellent day - all your favourite people came over to see you. You woke up especially early, just as if you knew the celebrations were coming, and you wanted to get started right away.

You played and played. Ella and Jonah and Chloe came over to try out all your new toys. It was a little cold, but we really enjoyed the new deck.

Everyone ate some cake - applesauce spice cake with strawberry lavender jam and cream cheese icing. Mommy didn't have any food colouring, so we used some lime Koolaid I bought to try dying felt - it was yummy and kind of tart.

Your favourite part was the strawberries, but you tucked in pretty good. All in all, it was a great little day.

The last year has been totally amazing, and it has been our joy and privilege to spend it with you, Griffin. We sure love you!

The Griffin Shoot

Another mini photo shoot with Griffin. I've been trying to teach myself how to use Lightroom, and I think it's going pretty well. Mostly photos today :)
Some from the park, and some on our favourite bridge (it is Bridgetown, after all.)

Yes, that is a Christmas Sleeper.

I can't decide if I like the Black and White, or the colour.

I like both!

Anyway, I'll write an actual update soon. Hope you are well!

Taking time to Smell the Flowers

Hello! We've been busy little builders, movers, shakers, and crawlers around here. But we did take some time today to stop and smell the flowers...
They didn't smell that good, so Griffin decided to shred them instead...
Gotta love a job well done!
